How To Make Easy Dragonfly Craft
Time needed: 20 minutes
- Print the template
Print the template and trace it on craft papers. Cut them out.
- Prepare the Background
Take a light green A4 paper and place it vertically. This will be your pond background. Paste the leaf and stem cutouts at the bottom center of the page as shown to make it look like a natural pond plant.
- Make the reeds
Glue the two brown oval shapes on top of the green stems to make pond reeds.
- Roll Small Paper Cylinders
Take rectangular strips of colored paper and glue their ends to make a cylindrical shape. These will make the body of your dragonfly.
- Make dragonfly body
Next take a strip of paper and roll it tightly to make a thin straw. You can also use a pipe cleaner instead of this paper straw.
- Assemble the Dragonfly
Paste the colourful paper cylinders on the thin straw shape to make the body of the dragonfly. We have intentionally used a brighter colour (orange) for the head.
- Add wings to the Dragonfly
Take the wings cutouts and paste them on the cylinder, on either side, next to the head of the dragonfly.
- Make the eyes of the Dragonfly
To make the eyes of the dragonfly, paste black circle cutout in the center of the yellow circle cutout. Next, take the white circle cutout and glue it on the black cutout to make a small black crescent shape.
- Paste the eyes
Fold the eye shape near the black part so that the white part remains unfolded. Apply glue on the folded section and paste it on either side of the dragon fly’s head. Your dragonfly craft is now ready.
- Add the Dragonfly to the background.
Lastly, glue the dragonfly on the plant to complete the craft!

Simple yet so impressive! In one look it looks like a lot of work but it is really a clever and easy Dragonfly craft that even toddlers can make with help! That’s why it’s such a wonderful addition to summer craft sessions and themed bug crafts.
