How to Make Popsicle Stick Santa Craft
Time needed: 20 minutes
- Get popsicle sticks ready
Take 3 popsicle sticks for the base. Use a cutter to make indentation on the stick and then apply pressure on both sides of it to break it along the indentation. You’ll need 2 parts with the round edge for the shoes and 2 for the arms, 1 piece to join the base sticks, and 1 piece for the hat’s tip.
If you are making it with young kids, adults should make the indentation and snap the popsicle sticks. - Make the base
Arrange three popsicle sticks side by side and then slide the middle stick upward to give Santa’s body a fun, curved look. Glue one of the cut popsicle-stick pieces horizontally near the middle of the base to the Santa carft’s base together.
- Make Santa’s hat
Paste the angled popsicle stick to the top, aligning the diagonal side between the middle and side popsicle sticks.
- Add Santa’s shoes
Flip over the base and glue the round-edged shoe pieces at the bottom of the base.
- Sketch Santa’s face and suit
This is where the crafts get fun and creative! Let kids use a pencil and lightly draw Santa’s beard, hat, belt, boots, and suit. This outline will guide young crafters as they paint.
- Paint Santa Craft
Paint Santa’s suit, hat, and sleeves red. Next, paint the white parts such as the beard, hat trim, and sleeve borders. Lastly, paint Santa’s belt & boots black and buckle yellow. Let it dry.
- Make Santa’s face
Use a black fine-tip maker to make Santa’s eyes, moustache and smile. Use a pink sharpie to make blush. Cut a small circle from white craft paper and glue it at the end of Santa’s hat. You can even use a small white pom-pom or cotton ball.
- Paste the arms
Turn over the Santa craft and glue the arm pieces just below the beard. Paint the arms red with white sleeve borders. Let it dry!
