How To Make Mermaid Paper Roll Craft
Time needed: 20 minutes
- Print and cut the template
Print and cut out the template patterns and then select colored craft papers for the mermaid patterns (head, tail, tail fin, top, star, waist-line etc.) Trace the patterns on the selected craft papers and glitter papers and cut them out nicely.
We used lilac for the lower body and tail; pink for the bustier; dark purple for tail fin and pale yellow for face. - Make patterns on templates
Use matching sharpies to draw scalloped patterns on the tail cutout and textures on the bustier and the tail fin cutouts.
- Cover the toilet paper roll
Take an empty TP roll and cover it with a colored craft paper of the same color as the mermaid’s face.
- Paste the bustier
Using glue, paste the bustier near one end of the TP roll.
- Make the mermaid’s tail
Leave a small section below the bustier for the mermaid’s waist and glue the tail pattern around the toilet paper roll.
- Make the outer curved tail for the mermaid craft’s body
Glue the curved tail pattern with the tail fin cutout. Next, make a thin fold along the straight side of the tail.
- Attach the curved tail to the mermaid’s body
Apply glue on the thin fold part and then attach it to the back of the toilet paper roll to complete the mermaid’s lower body.
- Make the mermaid toilet roll craft’s face
Use a black sharpie to draw the eyes, nose and mouth of the mermaid and a pink gel pen to make the blush.
- Make hair for your mermaid craft
Select a coloured yarn, we chose bright orange, for the hair and prepare yarn strands for the hair and the bangs/fringes of the mermaid.
- Paste the yarn on the mermaid craft’s face to cover your mermaid’s forehead
Cut short strands of yarn for the bangs/fringes and attach them along the top side of the head using craft glue. Cover the top side of the head with the bangs/fringe yarns.
- Attach hair at the back of head
Next, attach the longer strands of yarn at the back of the face to make long locks of the TP roll mermaid craft.
- Cut out waist belt and star
Cut out the waist belt and a small star for hair from glitter paper. Paste the belt on the waist and star on the bangs of your mermaid’s craft.
- Attach the face with the body
Lastly, glue the face above the bustier on the toilet paper roll to complete the craft.
