Puffer Fish Craft – Cute Ocean Crafts for Kids

This cute Puffer Fish paper craft will get your kids excited and add a lot of fun to your ocean theme unit. And the best part? It rocks and moves!

This rocking puffer fish craft is super easy to make and is just the fun craft for summer you need to keep children creatively busy. It makes for a great DIY paper toy for kids to make when feeling bored.

Easy Puffer Fish Paper Craft Kids

Rocking Puffer Fish Craft for Kids

This puffer fish craft for kids is perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten as well as older kids. It provides a fun way to practice fine motor skills and scissor skills for preschoolers and kinder kids who are still developing these hand skills.

What we love most about this Easy Puffer Fish paper craft is that it uses simple craft supplies and is quick to make. All you need is some construction paper and glue to make this adorable, eye-catching rocking puffer fish. 

Supplies Needed to Make Puffer Fish Paper Craft

  • Construction paper – red, white, yellow, orange, and black
  • Scissors
  • Sharpie
  • White correction pen
  • Glue

How To Make Rocking Puffer Fish Craft For Kids

Time needed: 20 minutes

  1. Make the body of the fish

    Use a bowl to cut out two big circles from orange paper and one circle from yellow craft paper. We used circles with 11cm diameter.paper for puffer fish craft

  2. Cut the Yellow circle

    Cut the yellow circle into half following a wavy pattern. Paste it on the orange circle to make the belly of the puffer fish craft.body of paper puffer fish craft

  3. Make fins, eyes, and mouth of puffer fish.

    Cut out the pectoral and tail fin from yellow construction paper. For the mouth, cut an oval from red craft paper and a smaller oval from black paper. 
     
    Cut out two ovals each from white and black construction paper to make the eyes of puffer fish craft. We used white ovals of two sizes to make it look cuter. parts of puffer fish paper craft

  4. Paste the fins

    Fold the narrow part of the pectoral fin and glue the fold onto the body of puffer fish paper craft. This will give the craft a 3D look. Paste the tail fin from the back of the puffer fish’s body.step by step puffer fish craft

  5. Paste mouth and eyes

    Paste the small black oval on the big red oval to make the mouth of your cute puffer fish craft. Once dry, paste it on the body like shown with some part of the mouth out of the body.
     
    To make the eyes of your rocking puffer fish paper craft, paste the black cut-outs on the white cut-outs. Use a correction pen, to make small circles on the black cut-out for the eyes. Glue them on the body of the puffer fish craft as shown.paper puffer fish craft for kindergarten

  6. Make spines of puffer fish craft

    Take yellow construction paper and fold it in half. Using scissors, cut triangles along the fold to make spines for your paper puffer fish craft. Similarly, cut out spines from orange construction paper.

  7. Use a black sharpie to draw lines on the fins to give them definition

  8. Take the orange circle and fold it in half.

    Lastly, take the second orange circle, fold it into half, and glue it on the back of the puffer fish craft to make it into a Rocking Puffer Fish.

Your cute Puffer fish craft is ready to rock! Place it on a flat surface and give it a gentle punch to see your Rocking puffer fish moving.
